The Rattler uses white wind hoof prints to mask his trail, but Captain Marvel tracks him to retrieve the horse and rescue Carol. The issue also contains an adventure involving a cave encounter with mysterious figures and armed conflict at sea, as well as a jungle sequence featuring Leap Nero and Voodoo battling a cliff dragon and monsters atop a treacherous ledge that threatens to collapse.
Billy Batson reunites with an old friend Whitey Murphy at the radio station, only to learn that explorer John Malcolm has vanished in Central America—and Billy springs into action to lead a rescue expedition. As Billy, Whitey, and their translator Pauncho fight their way through the Guatemalan jungle toward a mysterious island, they discover an ancient temple guarded by fearful local tribes, forcing Billy to call on Captain Marvel to overcome both the natives and the temple's ancient dangers. The real mystery of what happened to Malcolm and what waits inside the Temple of Itzalotahui still lies ahead.
Golden Arrow takes on a deadly new threat when The Rattler, the West's most dangerous killer, escapes from prison and begins systematically hunting down every jury member who convicted him. When The Rattler kidnaps Carol Braddock and steals Golden Arrow's prized horse White Wind, the mighty archer must set a cunning trap to stop the villain before he strikes again. A tale of vengeance, stolen horses, and a showdown in the cabin darkness that proves sometimes the best weapon against a killer is outsmarting him at his own game.
When the sorcerer Ibis attempts to overthrow a tyrannical war lord, he's captured and cast into the Black Hole—a nightmare prison filled with starving beasts and darker magic. Trapped alongside a young soldier, Ibis must rely on his wits and cunning to survive the horrors within, while his companion Taia fights to uncover the truth and reach him before a terrible sacrifice is demanded. As new and sinister perils close in, the question of whether magic or determination will prevail hangs in the balance.
