With Apocalypse apparently dead, Archangel returns to X-Factor. The team continues to run missions but becomes concerned when Archangel begins to dispense lethal justice to their foes. During a battle with the Marauders, it becomes abundantly clear that Archangel is still working for Apocalypse as he kills everyone, friend and foe alike. Apocalypse is furious, however, as Archangel has killed mutants who were vital to his plans. Apocalypse learns too late that, in creating his perfect Angel of Death, he bit off a little more than he could chew.
