Slim Carson investigates cattle rustling at Triple Tit ranch, where Mexican cattle infected with hoof and mouth disease have been stolen and driven across the border. When ranch foreman Deke Martin attempts to blame young border patrolman Slim Carson and a Mexican lawman for the theft, Carson exposes Martin's treachery by revealing that Martin himself orchestrated the rustling scheme. The issue also features a secondary story in which Tom Mix is dispatched by a Federal Marshal to pursue the notorious outlaw Ricochet Ross, who is heading toward Dobie, and encounters him there with the help of local lawmen.
