This anthology issue contains two western stories. "Scout of the Prairies" recounts a theatrical production from December 1872 featuring Buffalo Bill and Texas Jack performing tales of western frontier life, climaxing in a staged fight between the actors that thrills the audience. "The Badman's Mistake" follows the Cheyenne Kid, a quick-draw gunslinger in Roaring River who becomes involved in a conflict when a stranger named Jed Tompkins arrives in town, leading to a confrontation where the Kid discovers the newcomer is actually his estranged father.
