The Vol. 4 series was announced at Marvel's Next Big Thing panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 and grew directly out of Duggan's preceding Invincible Iron Man run, where the idea of a West Coast rehabilitation squad was first seeded by Jim Rhodes. Artist Danny Kim launched the book with issue #1 (November 27, 2024), while Ton Lima — working with returning colorist Arthur Hesli — took over penciling duties by issue #6 (April 2, 2025), with Alanna Smith editing throughout. Duggan has described the series publicly as 'one of my biggest Marvel swings yet,' framing Ultron's reformation as a deliberate inversion of his earlier horror-inflected Ultron-Pym story from Uncanny Avengers.
