“The Madness!”

In "The Madness!", a humble man’s goodwill toward a forest-dwelling Leprechaun sets off a chain of magical events in a forgotten town. With enchanted seeds and paint, he hopes to restore his community—but when the townsfolk remain indifferent, he makes a fateful choice that brings the mystical stranger back into the shadows. Written by Carl Wessler and brought to life with expressive art by Mort Drucker, this 1977 Marvel tale blends whimsy and quiet desperation, with a cover by Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott that captures its eerie charm.

A simple man who wants to be mayor helps a Leprechaun in the forest by letting him out of a cave. The Leprechaun gives him magic seeds and magic paint to revitalize the town, but when he asks the ungrateful townsfolk to be made mayor they scoff at him just as much as before when the town was rundown, so he goes back into the forest and takes the Leprechaun with him back into the cave.
