WE3 #[nn]
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeA collected edition of the 2004 three-issue miniseries from DC's Vertigo imprint, written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Frank Quitely. The story follows three cybernetically enhanced animals—a dog, a cat, and a rabbit—who escape from a military lab and embark on a violent, poignant journey to find a place they can call home. Known for its minimalist dialogue, kinetic artwork, and emotional depth, WE3 is a standalone sci-fi tale exploring themes of identity, humanity, and the cost of technology.
In "Bandit," Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely deliver a haunting, emotionally charged chapter in the WE3 saga, where the fate of three genetically enhanced animals—each a terrifyingly precise weapon—hangs in the balance after their creator, Roseanne Berry, helps them escape a decommissioning order. The story unfolds with tense precision, blending high-stakes action with quiet moments of vulnerability as the trio, designed as Animal Weapon 3 (WE3), flees a world that sees them as machines, not living beings. Frank Quitely’s striking interior art, rendered with Jamie Grant’s sharp inks and colorist’s subtle tones, brings a haunting beauty to this dystopian tale, while Todd Klein’s lettering anchors the narrative with clarity and weight. The cover, also by Quitely and Grant, captures the eerie, feral grace of the animals in motion.
