Dejah's and Phondari's crews are taken to the galley where they will be prepared to be eaten by the cannibalistic moon pirates. But Joktai has managed to hide a knife and uses it to start an escape. Since Brega's ship had once belonged to Phondari, she uses her knowledge to help the captured crews escape to her smaller ship. Safely away from Xen Brega, Dejah forces a partnership with Phondari for half of the lost hoard of Segotha as they return to the southern ice caps to resume the search.
