Warlord of Mars: Dejah Thoris #19

Dec 2012 · Dynamite Entertainment · 3.99 USD

In *Warlord of Mars: Dejah Thoris* #19, Dejah Thoris finds herself caught between loyalty and survival as Svero hands her over to the Vathek, only for Andalust to defy his masters and bring her to his own castle on Strio. With the fate of Barsoom hanging in the balance, Dejah agrees to stay with Andalust—not out of love, but to help him stop a deadly bomb on Vona and lift the shadow that keeps his people in eternal night. Written by Robert Place Napton and illustrated by Debora Carita, with colors by Carlos Lopez and letters by Marshall Dillon, the issue blends high-stakes intrigue with a quiet, desperate hope, all framed by Paul Renaud’s striking cover.

Svero turns Dejah over to the Vathek in order to secure his family's safe return. Andalust takes Dejah to the Vathek's home planet of Strio (read: Saturn) where he is supposed to take her before the God-Emperor but instead takes her home to his castle where he asks her to be his bride. She agrees to stay with him willingly if he helps her save Barsoom from the Vathek. The pair fly back to the planet Vona where Dejah and the resistance try to stop the bomb that threatens to destroy Barsoom while Andlaust releases a dust that lets sunlight through the atmosphere to stop his vampiric people.
