With the underground resistance offering a fragile hope, Dejah agrees to aid their cause, especially after learning the Vathek intend to invade Barsoom. As she and Svero infiltrate Verkur Castle to disable a weapon capable of destroying Barsoom’s atmosphere, the true nature of Svero’s loyalty is put to the test. The cover, by Paul Renaud, captures the tension of this pivotal moment.
