During Operation Granite, a coordinated military campaign involving tank divisions, marine training in New Zealand, and naval forces, an admiral requests a special task fleet to pursue Japanese shipping. When one of the fleet's ships is mysteriously struck and damaged, a crew member named Billy goes missing, prompting an investigation that suggests sabotage. The gun crew discovers evidence of Nazi involvement, learning that German U-boats and long-range bombers are coordinating attacks with Japanese forces against the Allied naval operations.
