About this Collection

This issue of Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge collects classic Disney comics stories featuring Scrooge McDuck and his nephews, continuing the long-running series of adventures from the Duck universe. Published by Gemstone, this volume includes reprints of vintage Carl Barks and other Disney artists' work, offering a mix of humor and treasure-hunting escapades typical of the franchise.

In "Escape From Forbidden Valley," Donald Duck’s overzealous rehearsal for a role in Man of La Mancha spirals into full-blown delusion—now convinced he’s the knightly Don Quiduck, he rides off with the only key to Uncle Scrooge’s new vault door clutched to his lance. With Scrooge and the nephews in pursuit and the Beagle Boys eyeing their chance, chaos unfolds across the desert. Written by Frank Jonker and Dwight Decker, with art by Bas Heymans and colors by Egmont and T. Letterman, this 2005 gem features a cover by Don Rosa.

Donald rehearses for a part opposite Daisy in "Man of La Mancha" so intensely that he hypnotizes himself into thinking he really is Don Quixote (here called "Don Quiduck"). In his delirium, Donald rides off with the only copy of the combination to Uncle Scrooge's new vault door attached to his lance, with Uncle Scrooge and the boys in hot pursuit. The Beagle Boys observe the situation and make their play for the coveted slip of paper.
