Vicarious #2
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeVicarious #2 delivers the first appearance of Sylvia Synn, the pivotal manager and power broker whose entry into protagonist Justin's life accelerates the series' central conflict between the seductive Proxy economy and the law enforcement closing in around it. As the second chapter of Ryan Parrott's debut original creator-owned comic — marking a significant creative milestone for a writer previously known almost entirely for franchise work — the issue deepens the series' thematic interrogation of identity, class, and the ethics of selling one's lived experience to the wealthy. Set against BOOM! Studios' mid-2020s wave of ambitious original sci-fi titles, Vicarious represents the publisher's ongoing commitment to neo-noir cyberpunk storytelling rooted in contemporary anxieties about surveillance, inequality, and the commodification of selfhood.

The series was announced as part of BOOM! Studios' road-to-San Diego Comic-Con 2024 publicity push, with writer Ryan Parrott — a New York Times bestselling author best known for his long run on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers — describing Vicarious as an idea that had been gestating in his head for years before he pitched it to the publisher. Parrott collaborated with Italian artist Eleonora Carlini, with whom he had previously worked on Go Go Power Rangers at BOOM!, making Vicarious a reunion of a proven creative pairing now operating on wholly original material. The creative team is rounded out by colorist Mattia Iacono (with color assistance from Luca Mattioni) and letterer Becca Carey; Vicarious #2 shipped to comic shops on November 20, 2024, approximately five weeks after the debut issue.
