Mayoral candidate Charles Palentine uses the goblin situation to take over San Francisco. Venom and Morbius join forces against the goblins but are forced to flee and end up in the abandoned prison Alcatraz. There they discover a hidden diary written by an inmate by the name of Charlie Palene, who once conjured up the goblins with a magic necklace and then imprisoned them underground. Meanwhile, the goblins summon Demogoblin and make him their new leader.
