The issue sits within the second volume of Jed MacKay's Moon Knight run, which had been relaunched with a new #1 in January 2024 after Moon Knight (2021) concluded at #30 — a renumbering Marvel made for commercial reasons while keeping the same creative core intact. MacKay also wrote Blood Hunt, the 2024 Marvel crossover that directly feeds into this issue's premise, meaning the resurrection of Marc Spector and the freeing of Khonshu were plot threads MacKay seeded across both titles simultaneously.
