“A Stranger Among Us”

In "A Stranger Among Us," a man’s curiosity turns dangerous when he steals a set of enchanted keys from a locksmith, only to discover they unlock more than just doors—each key reveals hidden treasures and breathtaking realms. But when he uses the final key, a jail key, he finds himself trapped in a cell with no way out and the keys vanished. The story, illustrated by Richard Doxsee in both pencils and inks, blends mystery and suspense in a tale that’s as clever as it is unsettling. The cover, by Larry Lieber and Mike Esposito, captures the eerie intrigue of the moment just before everything goes wrong.

When a man finds out that a locksmith is in possession of magic keys given to him by a gypsy, he steals the keys and uses them to open doors that lead to treasure rooms and beautiful locations. The last key he tries, however, is a jail key which deposits him in a cell and causes the key ring to disappear.
