About this Issue

Vampirella: Armageddon #8 marks a decisive tonal pivot in Tom Sniegoski's 12-issue apocalyptic arc, shifting the series' primary conflict from an external hellscape to the fractured psyche of Vampirella herself — a move that deepens the character's long-running duality rather than simply escalating spectacle. The issue introduces the Drujh, a near-forgotten infernal people serving as keepers of ancient secrets, a genuine expansion of Vampirella's cosmic mythology with roots older than any demon previously encountered in this continuity. Equally significant is the formal debut of the 'Dark Vampirella' concept — an internal entity grown powerful from the protagonist's centuries of violence — which drives the series' back half and represents the most sustained exploration of Vampirella's shadow self since the Harris Publishing era. Rounding out its landmark status is the in-story appearance of God as an active participant in the Heaven/Hell conflict, a narrative audacity that places this chapter among the more theologically ambitious single issues in Dynamite's Vampirella publishing history.

History

Vampirella: Armageddon launched in July 2025 as a direct continuation of Tom Sniegoski's preceding Vampirella Strikes! series, set in the post-apocalyptic Sepulcher City where humans and supernatural creatures coexist. Sniegoski, who described returning to the character as 'like slipping into a nice warm sweater,' opened the run with artist Kewber Baal; by the time the series reached issue #6, Edu Menna had stepped in as interior artist and remained on the book through issue #8 and beyond, bringing a more visceral visual language suited to the arc's descent into Hell. Adriano Augusto serves as colorist throughout Menna's chapters, using deep reds and cold purples to reinforce the book's hellish atmosphere. Issue #8 shipped February 18, 2026, with an early collected edition (Vol. 1 TP, ISBN 9781524129217) released June 10, 2026.
