Vampirella Armageddon #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeVampirella: Armageddon #1 marks the third consecutive chapter in Tom Sniegoski's long-running post-apocalyptic Vampirella saga at Dynamite, a continuity that itself stretches back to Sniegoski's 1990s Harris Comics work — making this one of the longest unbroken creative relationships between a single writer and a single horror-comics character in the modern independent era. The issue deepens the Sepulcher City world Sniegoski first built in Vengeance of Vampirella and expanded through Vampirella Strikes!, treating decades of continuity as a living foundation rather than a reboot. It also stages a rare inter-publisher cover crossover with Mark Spears' Monsters (Keenspot), a creative handshake that acknowledges Vampirella's ongoing cultural resonance as a crossover-worthy horror anchor. For readers of the character's full history, the series' promise to reintroduce supporting figures from the 1990s era gives Armageddon genuine connective tissue to over three decades of storytelling.

Dynamite announced Vampirella: Armageddon in April 2025 as a direct sequel to Vampirella Strikes!, the 12-issue series Sniegoski had completed with artist Jonathan Lau. Sniegoski — who first scripted Vampirella for Harris Comics in the early 1990s and whom Dynamite recruited in 2019 to write Vengeance of Vampirella as part of the character's 50th-anniversary celebrations — reunited here with artist Kewber Baal, who had also contributed to Dynamite's Vampirella line. The issue was featured as the front-cover highlight of Diamond Comic Distributors' May 2025 PREVIEWS catalog, signaling Dynamite's confidence in the series as a flagship release for July 2025. Colorist Omi Remalante Jr. completed the interior creative team.
Trivia · 8 facts
- Written by Tom Sniegoski with interior art by Kewber Baal and colors by Omi Remalante Jr.; published by Dynamite Entertainment with a July 2025 on-sale date.
- Direct sequel to Vampirella Strikes! (2022–2023), itself a sequel to Sniegoski's Vengeance of Vampirella (2019–2021), forming a continuous three-series arc set in the post-apocalyptic Sepulcher City.
- Sepulcher City's 'Menagerie' district — a walled enclave designated for monstrous inhabitants — is central to the setting, with Vampirella now operating as a private investigator rather than a government special agent (a role shift from Vampirella Strikes!).
- Dagwood, Vampirella's werewolf partner who appeared in the closing issues of Vampirella Strikes!, continues as a co-lead; the buddy-horror dynamic between a vampire P.I. and her werewolf partner is a defining structural choice of this run.
- The series was announced to reintroduce supporting characters from the 1990s Harris Comics era of Vampirella, deepening the continuity for longtime readers while remaining accessible to new ones.
- The first issue features an inter-publisher connecting cover by Mark Spears (of Keenspot's Mark Spears Monsters), with a reciprocal Vampirella appearance in Mark Spears Monsters #6 in the same month — a rare cross-publisher cover event.
- Cover artists for issue #1 include Francesco Mattina (with foil and virgin variants), Lesley 'Leirix' Li, Joseph Michael Linsner, cosplay model Rachel Hollon, and Mark Spears; additional exclusive variants were produced for SDCC 2025 by artists including Nathan Szerdy, Lobos, BLT, and Yona Saura.
- A trade paperback collection (Vampirella Vol. 1: Armageddon, ISBN 9781524129217) collecting the opening arc was solicited by Dynamite, confirming the series' planned collected-edition lifecycle.
