Vampirella #18
Warren's Vampirella #18 (August 1972) delivers an atmospheric painted cover by Enrich Torres that's hard to look away from — Vampirella's striking face dominates a grand ornate mirror while a caped, red-cloaked figure lurks menacingly behind her, gun in hand, flanked by flickering candelabras. The cover blurb promises chilling encounters as Vampirella discovers "Dracula Still Lives," and that brooding, oil-painted mood is pure Warren Publishing atmosphere at its most seductive. Inside, writer Kevin Pagan and artist/inker Luis García bring their own dark sensibilities to the anthology's illustrated tales — a worthy addition to this 1972 horror magazine run.
