Vampirella #12

Dynamite's Vampirella #12 from 2011 features a stunning cover by Alex Ross that places the iconic crimson-costumed heroine center stage, arms raised skyward with gold cuffs gleaming at her wrists, bathed in a radiant burst of light against a sweeping alien landscape of jagged teal rock formations and a massive amber planet looming in the starry sky. Ross's painted realism gives Vampirella an almost transcendent quality here, her pose somewhere between triumph and surrender beneath that otherworldly atmosphere. With interior work from writer Eric Trautmann and artist José Malaga, this issue brings together a genuinely impressive creative team at a compelling moment in the series.
