“Man on Fire”

In "Man on Fire," a quiet Wednesday evening at the theatre sets off a delicate chain of moments that blur the line between chance and design. When Gwen’s regular routine is gently nudged by a thoughtful matchmaker, a shy young man named Joe and a seemingly confident stranger named Don both step into her world—each leaving a different kind of impression. The story unfolds with quiet tension and emotional precision, capturing the fragile hope of connection. Art by Leo Davy brings a subtle, expressive realism to the moment, grounding the emotional stakes in a world that feels both familiar and quietly charged.

The girl in the paybox at the theatre knows that Gwen always comes alone every Wednesday evening and decides to play matchmaker. Marie gets Joe and Gwen to agree to come to a dance, but Joe seems very shy. While Joe is away, a very assured-looking man comes up to Gwen and asks her to dance. She starts seeing Don regularly but when he takes her to meet his people, she realizes their worlds are too different. She returns to her regular theatre night and finds that Joe has been waiting for her.
