While helping to unmoor a boat, Emma is caught by the rope and pulled into the water. Val pulls her onto the deck and gets her some dry clothes. This was the start of their friendship and soon Emma knows she is in love. She believes he loves her too, but something holds him back. After their first kiss, he sends her a letter that he is leaving forever. Then Emma receives an unexpected visitor - his fiancée.
