Valentine #15 April 1961
In "Marry Me," Rachel faces the dreaded staff dance with dread, feeling overlooked and hurt by Laura’s teasing—until her friends step in with a fresh look. That night, transformed by new clothes and makeup, she’s suddenly the center of attention, dancing with every man in the room… except Tony. The next day, back in her usual self, the men don’t even remember dancing with her. But when Tony finally speaks up, revealing he’d been too shy to ask her out—and had been waiting weeks—Rachel finds a quiet kind of magic in the moment. Art by Eugenio Giner, this 1961 Valentine #15 captures a tender, bittersweet moment with gentle charm and subtle emotional depth.

Rachel dreads the staff dance because no one will dance with her and Laura seems to delight in hurting her feelings. But Rachel's friends fix her up with new clothes and makeup. That night all the men want to dance with her except for Tony. However, the next day she returns to her normal look and the men she danced with the night before don't even remember dancing with her. Thinking there will be no fairy prince for her, she hears Tony say he couldn't ask her to dance because there had been so many chaps around her. He asks her out and tells her he had been meaning to ask her out for weeks.
