Usagi Yojimbo #21

Part of the sprawling "Grasscutter" saga, this 1998 Dark Horse issue puts Usagi in a desperate moment — the rabbit samurai recoils, unarmed and wide-eyed, as the dark-robed, fang-baring figure of Jei looms over him with a raised sword, fallen figures scattered across the ground between them. Stan Sakai's cover work captures that tense standoff with striking economy, using deep shadows and bold linework to make the threat feel immediate. It's a vivid chapter in one of comics' most enduring anthropomorphic adventure series.
