Usagi meets a one-armed swordsman named Takashi, who lost a duel against Te, a notorious ronin who claims the sword hand of whomever he bests. Usagi winds up witnessing Takashi's rematch against Te; although Takashi seems handicapped he secretly placed a blade within the wooden stump on his right hand and uses it to dispatch Te. Takashi explains he sought the rematch not out of vengeance but because Te was "too evil to exist."
