Usagi Yojimbo #120
This 2009 Dark Horse milestone marks issue #120 of Stan Sakai's beloved series, and the cover — signed by Sakai and Luth — delivers two battle-ready anthropomorphic warriors in traditional Japanese dress: the familiar rabbit ronin Usagi, sword drawn and ready, standing back-to-back with a younger wolf companion whose blade is also half-drawn and whose robe is decorated with autumn-leaf patterns. The rocky landscape and forested mountains behind them set a mood that perfectly suits the intriguing story title, "What the Little Thief Heard." After 25 years of publication (noted right on the cover), Usagi Yojimbo continues to show why it remains one of the most consistently compelling samurai comics in the medium.
