Part four of seven in this 2023 DC limited series delivers one of the more unsettling cover images you'll find in the "Dawn of DC" era — a smiling woman in an orange jacket, pen and notepad in hand, while a mechanical robot head, a bandaged mummy, a screaming figure, and a small horned creature all erupt chaotically from around her skull. Chris Burnham's cover art is genuinely impressive in its controlled weirdness, balancing cheerful composure against pure pandemonium. With Dennis Culver writing and David Lafuente on interior art, "Breakthrough Breakdowns" promises the Doom Patrol living up to their gloriously strange reputation right at the series' midpoint.
