Vertigo's Unknown Soldier reaches issue #14 with a haunting cover by Dave Johnson that says everything without a word: a scarred, bandaged figure crouches low to the ground, blood dripping from his face into a pool below, while a stark, skeletal tree looms above him with skulls nestled among its bare branches. The arc title "The Way Home" hangs in the composition like a quiet, bitter question.
