United Comics #23 is an anthology issue featuring three stories: "Fritzi Ritz," in which Fritzi attends a costume party despite being told not to wear a fish outfit, and encounters Professor Beakerspout in a cave on his farm where he is conducting atomic experiments; "Abbie an' Slats," which follows the misadventures of Mr. Groggins, whose expensive tastes and sudden descent into madness cause chaos in town when he insists everyone is acting indecent; and "Mamie" by Russell Patterson, in which Mamie and her friend Daisy attempt to escape crowded beaches and mobs of people in search of peace and quiet.
