Christian Durieux brings his vision of Spirou to the beloved "Une aventure de Spirou et Fantasio par" series with Pacific Palace, published by Dupuis in 2021. The cover is a quietly arresting study in midnight blue — a grand Art Nouveau fountain bearing a gargoyle face pours water into a luminous pool beneath a star-filled sky, while a figure in a red bellhop uniform watches from an upper balcony, and a swimmer glides beneath the shimmering surface below. There's an elegant, almost melancholy atmosphere to it all that suggests Durieux is taking Spirou somewhere genuinely unexpected.
