In the shadowed realms of Vendhya, where sorcery and betrayal weave through ancient ruins, Conan abducts Yasmina after the murder of her brother, Bhunda Chand, the fallen king. As Gitara and Khemsa conspire against Kerim Shah, using Yasmina’s captivity to fuel their own dark ambitions, Conan and the young woman flee toward the treacherous Col de Zhaibar—where they encounter the enigmatic Yar Afzal, whose true allegiance remains unknown.

In "Les prophètes noirs...", Conan and Yasmina flee the Wazulis only to be ambushed by Khemsa and Gitara. As the battle unfolds, four sorcerers emerge to exact vengeance on Khemsa and seize Yasmina from Conan’s grasp. Learning that the Afguli clans have turned against him, Conan resolves to rescue Yasmina alone—until Kerim Shah arrives with his men, offering their aid.
