“Return of Dr Fang”

Tower Comics' submarine spy series surfaces for its second issue with a cover by penciler Mike Sekowsky and inker Frank Giacoia that plunges readers straight into underwater peril — a woman in a red jumpsuit fires her ray gun while a male agent in orange battles alongside her, both surrounded by an enormous sea creature lurking in the deep, with a third figure visible in the turbulent background. The cover blurbs promise plenty of 1966 Cold War–flavored adventure: the return of the villainous Dr. Fang, a mystery involving flying saucers, double jeopardy at Atlantis, and a teammate buried helpless beneath the sea. It's a terrifically fun package of espionage and sci-fi thrills that makes clear why Tower Comics billed this one a "Super-Action Thriller.
