Scrooge tells his grandnephews a tall-tale of his Klondike prospecting days, when he was "a young tenderfoot". At Glittering Goldie's Blackjack Ballroom, and in response to a pair of mocking prospectors, he brags about striking it rich with all in attendance listening in, including Goldie and saloon entertainers Sly Kaye the quick-change artist, bear handler Professor Multiple, and his mathematically-trained bear Matthew. Soon after, Scrooge's newly discovered "hen's egg nugget" is stolen, and he sets out to find the thief.
