“The Sky Is Falling”

In "The Sky Is Falling," the X-Men face a desperate crisis when a damaged helicarrier hurtles toward destruction—Jean Grey steps in, using her powers to avert disaster. As the team regroups, Lilandra reveals the Knights' galactic war, and Nightcrawler is suddenly pulled to their realm, where he confronts a haunting vision of Xavier’s skull before the psychic presence of Xavier himself begins to mend. With Jean now locked in combat against six Knights at once, the battle escalates—only for Peter Corbeau to reveal the shocking truth behind her newfound abilities, tied to solar radiation from the Knights’ attacks. The story, written by Scott Gray and illustrated by Nelson DeCastro and Scott Koblish, features a striking cover by Paul Pelletier and Terry Pallot.

With the helicarrier threatening to crash, Jean uses her powers to divert the ship and save lives. As the X-Men recover, Lilandra tells them that the Knights have waged war on worlds across the galaxy. Nightcrawler has grabbed Sky Song's sword and is transported to the Knights home. He is full of despair at seeing Xavier's skull there until Xavier, who is in his astral form, wakes up and pulls himself back together. Jean begins to fight the Knights and holds her own until all six attack. Peter Corbeau informs Cyclops that Jean's new powers were caused by solar radiation caused by the Knights.
