“Skin-Deep”

In "Skin-Deep," a 1952 Uncanny Tales #2 story written by Hank Chapman and illustrated by Fred Kida, a man’s increasingly bizarre experiments with facial transplants take a darkly comedic turn when his well-meaning wife accidentally burns the harvested skin—leading to a grotesque, unexpected solution. The cover by Joe Maneely captures the story’s eerie, off-kilter tone, making this a standout in Marvel’s early horror anthology series.
