“Lost in the Land of the Lizardmen”

In "Lost in the Land of the Lizardmen," Joe Gill and Matt Baker deliver a quietly poignant tale of loyalty and identity, as Mr. Dennison—secret agent from a distant world and longtime pharmacist on Earth—faces a turning point when a new drugstore threatens to expose his cover. With Vince Colletta’s inks lending weight to Baker’s expressive art, the story explores what it means to belong, even when you’re not from here. Al Williamson’s striking cover captures the alien mystery, perfectly framing a tale where friendship might just be the most powerful disguise of all.

Mr. Dennison has a secret. Three generations ago as a young man he was chosen by the war council of his home world to lead a group spying on Earth posing as a pharmacist where he gives his spies invisibility powder. Dennison is unique on his planet as the only person who values friendship and loyalty. The period of spying is nearly up when news breaks that a big chain drugstore is opening up. Dennison feels that the townspeople are lying when they say they will boycott the chain. The drugstore closes and Dennison decides to remain with his earth friends staying invisible. The spies flee.
