Uncanny Inhumans #12
A massive, grinning figure looms over the cover of this 2016 Civil War II tie-in, his enormous hands ensnaring two smaller heroes — a purple-clad woman and an armored Iron Man-like figure — in a tangle of red strings that suggests complete control. Ryan Stegman's cover composition is genuinely unsettling, with those glowing red eyes and the puppet-master imagery doing real work in conveying tension and threat. With Charles Soule writing and Carlos Pacheco on interior art, Uncanny Inhumans #12 looks like a compelling chapter in one of Marvel's biggest crossover events of the year.
