Ultimate Spider-Man #104

The Clone Saga reaches its eighth installment in this 2007 chapter of Ultimate Spider-Man, with a cover by Mark Bagley that crackles with menace — Spider-Man and a red-and-white spider-suited figure scramble across a rooftop as enormous mechanical tentacles close in around them, while a looming dark-suited figure dominates the space above. Bagley's composition expertly conveys a sense of being completely surrounded, with the city skyline and coiling machinery pressing in from every angle. Brian Michael Bendis and Bagley were delivering some of their most tense storytelling at this point in the run, and this cover makes a compelling case that the pressure on Peter Parker was nowhere near letting up.
