The series was conceived as part of Marvel's 2024 relaunch of the Ultimate Universe following the miniseries Ultimate Invasion, with writer Bryan Edward Hill — previously known for his Killmonger miniseries and Batman and the Outsiders — helming the book alongside series artist Stefano Caselli. For issues #5 and #6, regular interior duties shifted to guest artist Carlos Nieto, with Caselli remaining on covers; Nieto would eventually return as a recurring interior collaborator on later arcs. Editor Wil Moss oversaw the series under editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski, and the first collected volume — titled Peace and War — gathers issues #1 through #6, meaning this issue falls at the arc's penultimate chapter.
