Ultimate Black Panther launched in early 2024 as the second ongoing series of Marvel's rebooted Ultimate Universe (Earth-6160), conceived by writer Bryan Edward Hill and series artist Stefano Caselli as one of three inaugural titles alongside Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate X-Men. Hill — previously known for his Killmonger miniseries and work on Batman and the Outsiders — approached the book as an epic political and mythological saga, citing Dune and A Song of Ice and Fire as structural influences and emphasising Wakanda's isolationism as its central dramatic engine. By the series' second year, Carlos Nieto had taken on the bulk of interior art duties alongside Caselli, with colorist David Curiel and letterer Cory Petit remaining consistent throughout, giving the title a notably stable creative core by the standards of Marvel's main line.
