“When the Kid Was Marked for Murder!”

This August 1960 Marvel western puts the Two-Gun Kid right in the thick of a full-scale frontier shootout, with the blue-clad, broad-hatted hero drawing his revolver against a sprawling gang of outlaws firing from rooftops, doorways, and the dusty street itself. Jack Kirby's pencils and Dick Ayers' inks give the chaotic scene a tremendous sense of motion and danger, making it easy to see why the Kid finds himself "marked for murder." Three teasers on the cover — the Kid's deadly predicament, the fury of Ox Miller, and the mystery of the "Deadly Dude" — hint at a jam-packed issue written by Stan Lee with interior art by John Severin.
