Two Gun Kid #39

From December 1957, this Atlas-era western finds the Two-Gun Kid standing tall inside what looks like a saloon, guns drawn and eyes locked on a downed opponent in a red shirt who's lost his weapon — while a shadowy gunman lurks in the doorway behind him. The cover teaser "Who Was the Fastest Gun?" sets up a tense rivalry beautifully, and the sneering speech bubble — "Let's see yuh get out of THIS one, Kid!!" — makes clear the hero is caught in a real squeeze. John Severin's cover art brings crisp, confident linework to every figure, making this a sharp snapshot of Marvel's two-fisted frontier storytelling at its most entertaining.
