Pamela is mentored in her job as a department store buyer by "career woman" Beverly, and promises “nothing’s going to come between my job and me!” She violently rejects salesman Dick when he asks for a date, and he’s fired as a result. Pamela discovers she’s in love with him, and doesn’t want to be like Beverly, “all dried up like an old prune!” She marries Dick.
