“Merry-Go-Round Romance”

In "Merry-Go-Round Romance," air hostess Thelma finds herself caught between her pilot boyfriend Steve, a rule-following man with a rigid sense of duty, and a wealthy passenger, Ronald, who seems more interested in luxury than courage. When a tense flight puts both men to the test, old feelings and hidden fears come to light in a moment that could change everything. Drawn with crisp, expressive lines by Tom Hickey, this 1953 tale of love and loyalty unfolds with quiet drama, its emotions as clear as the skies above. The cover, by Al Avison, captures the story’s mix of glamour and tension in a single striking image.

Air hostess Thelma dates pilot Steve, a “thick-headed stickler for the rules” while in the air. They fall in love and Steve insists they not fly together anymore. Thelma breaks up with him and goes out with wealthy passenger Ronald. Steve takes over as pilot on a flight and puts the plane into a dive, exposing Ronald as a coward. Thelma and Steve make up.
