Della expects Rod's marriage proposal, but when he says she should quit her job and they should spend three or four weeks in Honolulu, she wonders where they will get the money. Then he stops showing up for work and Della discovers he hasn't been staying in his apartment for a week or more. Finally, late one night while Della is out for a walk, Rod shows up and tells her he is being framed for embezzling money from work.
