John Byrne's creator-owned IDW series continues with this striking second issue, its cover showcasing a pale blue, fin-headed powerhouse hoisting an enormous rocky, stone-skinned behemoth overhead amid a backdrop of crumbling urban rubble — two downed figures caught in the chaos below. The raw energy of the composition makes it immediately clear that Byrne is having a tremendous time crafting these larger-than-life characters entirely on his own terms, with Ronda Pattison's colors giving the stone and skin tones real tactile weight.
