Warren Ellis and Jason Howard's Trees hits its fifth issue with a cover that's quietly unsettling in the best way — a stark white helicopter silhouette hovers over a golden, worn map of Africa, while two of the series' enigmatic alien monoliths loom upward from below, their dark forms cutting through the amber haze. The juxtaposition of human military hardware against those towering, indifferent structures captures the series' core tension beautifully. Jason Howard's minimalist design work here is genuinely striking, letting negative space do the heavy lifting.
