Warren Ellis and Jason Howard's Trees continues with this quietly unsettling fourth issue, its cover design doing a great deal with very little — a white bowl rests against a vivid red splash, all set against a deep black background patterned with shadowy dragons. The stark contrast between the crimson stain and the cool, almost ceremonial simplicity of the bowl gives the image an eerie, meditative weight that feels perfectly at home in this 2014 sci-fi series about an Earth that has simply been ignored by its alien visitors.
