Dad Jannis is upset when he walks into Mike and Teddy's room at the Skyline Lodge and unexpectedly finds them unpacking Mike's ham radio gear. He wants them all to go outside and enjoy skiing before it gets too dark. Sally Jannis follows her father down the slope, but has difficulty seeing through the falling snow and she crashes into a ski lift tower unconscious.
