“The Happy Heart”

In "The Happy Heart," a newspaper story about a baby gorilla at Moodyland stirs up a crowd, drawing attention away from Whoopeeland where Mr. Sharp plans to make a grand entrance in his gorilla suit. Unaware that the public already knows the truth about the fake gorilla, Sharp heads to Moodyland with a showy scheme—only to find his act undermined by the very publicity he hoped to exploit. The story unfolds with playful tension, all drawn by Frank Borth, whose distinctive style brings the mischievous antics to life, while the cover by Giaquinto Corrado captures the whimsical chaos in bold, expressive lines.

Newspaper reporters arrive at Moodyland to do an article on the baby gorilla and the man inside the gorilla suit and print a photo of the them together. Over at Whoopeeland, Mr. Sharp has a large crowd of people, but loses them when word spreads that Moodyland has a baby gorilla. Sharp and Wiffletree see the newspaper story, but don't bother to read it, so they don't know there's a man inside the gorilla suit. Sharp is going over to Moodyland in his gorilla suit and expects to scare the crowds by making them think the gorilla has escaped, not knowing the public knows it's a fake gorilla.
